BRAMPTON, ONTARIO – Cam Bakker and Francois Beauchemin scored for Brampton but the Beats dropped a 3-2 overtime contest against the Adirondack Thunder on Monday night.
The Brampton Beast welcomed the Adirondack Thunder to the CAA Centre for a North Division clash. The Beast were coming off a loss at the hands of the Reading Royals on Sunday afternoon.
The Thunder drew first blood on the evening with a goal from Casey Pierro-Zabotel. The forward entered the Beast zone and took a pass from Matt Salhany, which he wired past Alex Dubeau for a 1-0 lead at 4:16.
That would be all the scoring in the first, as Evan Cormier was perfect in the Thunder net against all four Beast shots.
Brampton was down 1-0 after 2 minutes of play and would trail in shots by a count of 7-4 after the first period of play.
The second period saw the Thunder convert less than a minute into the frame with a goal from Robbie Payne. The forward went in on a two-on-one and was able to find twine past Dubeau for the 2-0 lead.
It took the Beast almost till the end of the frame but they were finally able to solve Evan Cormier. The line of David Pacan, Dan Leavens and David Vallorani went to work and eventually wormed the puck free to Cam Bakker.
The defender took a few whacks at the bouncing disc and was able to beat Cormier to cut the lead to just one at 18:01.
The Beast found themselves down 2-1 after 40 minutes of play but were outshooting their opponents to the tune of 16-14.
The third period saw Francoise Beauchemin tie the game up two apiece with his 12th of the season. Chris Clapperton drove the net and Beauchemin was in front to bang home the loose puck for a 2-2 tie at 14:07.
The game would need extra time and at the 1:17 mark Payne would fired a shot past Dubeau for the OT winner.
Dubeau would make 18 total saves on the evening. Cormier would finish with 22 of his own.

Brampton will be back in action tomorrow, Tuesday, December 31st when they travel to face the Adirondack Thunder. Puck drop is scheduled for 5:00 PM.
