BRAMPTON, ONTARIO – Many Beast fans have the opportunity to come to the CAA Centre and watch their favourite team take to the ice in one of the 36 home games the team has on the schedule every season.
For a select few however, there’s the opportunity to create lasting memories by taking part in the Season Ticket Holder Road Trip once every season.
We spoke with Deb Shelvey, a long-time season ticket holder, about some of her experiences on the road trip the past few years.
Anthony Fusco: "Where were some of the arenas that you were able to visit as part of the road trip?"
Deb Shelvey: "The last three years I was able to see the Beast play on the road against the Kalamazoo Wings and the Toledo Walleye."
AF: "What was the experience like at each of those away games?"
DS: "Kalamazoo was a lot of fun! The fans there were amazing and really made the atmosphere and overall game a great experience. We were lucky enough to be there for Autism Awareness Night and the team did a great job with their promotions.
Toledo had a different vibe and the fans were rabid for the hockey. It made for a cool night and getting to see the Beast and give them my support was something I won’t forget."
AF: "With the Toledo stop as couple years ago, I understand you got to see some baseball as well?"
DS: "Yes! We got to take in part of the Toledo Mud Hens game. We stayed for the majority then jetted over to the Huntington Center to catch the Beast and Walleye right after. It was a fun double sports filled day."
AF: "What would be a road trip destination that you would like to attend one day?"
DS: "I would love the chance to get down to Reading and see a Beast vs. Royals game. I missed out on that road trip a few years back and by all accounts everyone had a fabulous time. There was a hum of excitement in the air when the stories were being told."
AF: "In your owns words, how would you describe the Beast Season Ticket Holders community?"
DS: " I would say that we are extremely passionate and over the top in our support for the team. We’re a tight knit group who really rallies together, especially for events and supporting the players various initiatives."
The Season Ticket Holder Road Trip is a great opportunity for the most die-hard fans to be able to travel and see the team in a different environment.
It gives the fans the chance to see how other ECHL teams run their game days, while also spending time together and bonding on the trip down.
The players also appreciate looking up into the stands and seeing a small pocket of friendly faces amongst all the hostile fans. They dig down and play that much harder. No matter the result, they appreciate their home fans making the trip down to support them.
The Season Ticket Holders Road Trip is a great experience through and through and the Beast are proud that we have such dedicated and passionate fans that continue to stand by the team.
