BRAMPTON, ONTARIO – Dan Leavens and David Vallorani both scored for Brampton but the Toledo Walleye used a big second period to down the Beast 6-3 on Wednesday morning.
The Brampton Beast woke up bright and early on Wednesday morning to take on the Toledo Walleye for our third School Day Game of the season. Brampton was looking to bounce back from a Sunday loss against Wheeling.
The Beast got on the board first on Wednesday with a goal from Dan Leavens.
David Vallorani found the winger streaking into the offensive zone and Leavens made no mistake as he whipped the puck up over the glove of Filip Larsson for a 1-0 Beast lead at the 2:46 mark.
Alex Dubeau stopped at eight shots he faced and the Beast headed to their locker up 1-0 after the first period of play and ahead in shots to the tune of 12-8.
The Walleye scored first in the second frame and got a goal from Shane Berschbach to tie the game 1-1 at 1:27. Josh Kestner then followed up with a goal of his own to make it 2-1 Toledo at 5:46.
The Beast fought back and tied the game with a goal off the draw from David Vallorani. The forward’s 26th of the season tied the game 2-2 at 9:51.
Toledo kept the pressure on and received goals from Abbot Girduckis and Dylan Zink to give the visiting Walleye a 4-2 lead in the middle frame.
With time winding down and the Beast needed a response, Perry D’Arrisso tipped a shot in front and pulled the Beast back within one at 16:31.
Brampton was down 4-3 after 40 minutes of action but was ahead in shots 26-17.
The Beast started the period off hot but the Walleye were able to get a couple goals from Josh Kestner and that sealed the win for the Walleye 6-3.
Dubeau took the loss and ended with 19 saves. Larsson finished with the win and made 38 of his own.

Kestner’s Hat Trick Sinks Brampton
