BRAMPTON, ONTARIO - The Brampton Beast of the ECHL have signed defenseman T.J. Melancon to a Standard Player Contract (SPC) for the 2019-20 season.
Melancon, the native of Oshawa, Ontario, spent the 2018-19 season with the Norfolk Admirals of the ECHL.
The defenseman scored 10 goals and 31 points through 60 total games. The previous season with Norfolk saw him score 15 goals and 43 total points in 58 games played.
The defenseman has also spent nine games in the American Hockey League with the Belleville Senators, Syracuse Crunch and Tucson Roadrunners.
Melancon started his hockey career with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada of the QMJHL. He competed in three seasons with he club and wore an “A” in his final year. He then made the jump up to the ECHL.
The young defenseman was named to the ECHL All-Rookie Team after the completion of the 2017-18 season with Norfolk.
Melancon has also been invited to the Ottawa Senators rookie camp that is taking place from September 5th to 9th in Belleville, Ontario.
The Beast open their seventh season on Saturday, October 12th at the CAA Centre vs. the Toledo Walleye.
