BRAMPTON, ONTARIO – The Brampton Beast are set to host a Holiday Food Drive, supported by PepsiCo, that will benefit local charities in the Peel Region.
“We are very happy to be partners with such a great organization such as the Brampton Beast,” said PepsiCo Food Services Representative Gregory Waltham. “We are very pleased with the initiative they have taken in supporting their community and wish them all the success in 2021.”
Despite the ECHL’s North Division taking a Voluntary Suspension, the Beast have made a firm commitment to staying active in the community. With the holidays fast approaching, it was an easy choice to organize a Food Drive in an attempt to give back to a community that has always stood behind us.
Being a hockey team in the Peel community, in spite of not being able to play this year, the Brampton Beast appreciate that many people in Peel have a far greater challenge than us, and need help with food necessities,” said Beast President and General Manager Cary Kaplan.
“More so than ever in the year of Covid, food drives are vital. We are proud to be able to do our small share and ask you to join us.”
The main charity that we have chosen to support is Regeneration Brampton, an organization that we have built a great relationship with during our seven years in the Peel Region.
“The essential work that has been the mission of Regeneration for many years has become ever more essential during the Covid-19 pandemic and has come with a new set of challenges,” said Dan Gibson, Director of Community Relations and Spiritual Care.
“This work and most importantly the people that are served through these services, will benefit greatly from the innovative Brampton Beast food drive.”
The donation target for our campaign comes from our home arena, the CAA Centre. We’re aiming to gather one item per seat, which would come out to approximately 4200 items between food and drinks.
We have a bevy of options for anyone who is willing to get involved and help out. We have organized curbside drop off events on the following dates at the Beast office at the CAA Centre:
Saturday, December 5th (1:00 PM – 3:00 PM)
Thursday, December 10th (5:00 PM – 7:00 PM)
Saturday, December 12th (1:00 PM – 3:00 PM)
If you are unable to make in person but still want to help, you can click here to donate directly to Regeneration Brampton.
In the spirit of giving, there will also be rewards handed out for in-person donations on the three December days. Please note that this entire event will be socially distanced and we encourage everyone to wear a mask for the safety of others.
The holidays are a time to come together and do something great. Any donation, big or small, would go a long way in helping someone who is going through a tough time. With that in mind, please do whatever you can to help!
