After a successful inaugural year of being affiliated with the Montreal Canadiens, the Beast announced on June 3, 2016 that their partnership with professional hockey’s most storied franchise would be extended to the end of the 2016-2017 ECHL campaign.
Fucale has provided many standout performances in net since assuming the mantle as the starting goaltender of the Beast, but he was truly at his best in a road clash against the Adirondack Thunder on Saturday, December 17.
The 21-year-old sent a lot of Thunder fans home unhappy as he spoiled this rival team’s Teddy Bear Toss game by stopping all 28 shots he faced to lead his club to a 3-0 road win. Securing his first ever ECHL shutout was not easy achievement as he was forced to make a multiple difficult saves during this 60-minute contest.
This flawless decision was the exclamation point of a scintillating three weeks of netminding by the Laval, Quebec native during the month of December that saw him win seven of eight starts while posting a terrific 2.41 GAA and a 0.923 save percentage
Team Captain Brandon Marino also starred in this contest by scoring his seventh and eighth goals of the season.
Luke Pither added an empty net goal late in the game to extend his personal point streak to an astonishing seven games. He notched four goals and 10 assists for 14 points during this run.
