BRAMPTON, ONTARIO – The Brampton Beast, ECHL affiliate of the St. John’s IceCaps and Montreal Canadiens, are pleased to announce the skaters that will be taking part in this year’s Training Camp, which kicks off on Sunday.

To date, a total of 27 players are scheduled to attend this year’s camp ahead of the 2016-17 ECHL season. The roster is currently comprised of a combination of 20 players signed to Standard Player Contracts and seven players who will attend on Professional Tryout contracts (PTO), with the possibility of more players to be added.

The 20 contracted players are made up of a combination of 12 returnees from the 2015-16 squad and a select number of talented recruits plucked from across professional hockey. These players include goaltenders Bryan Pitton and Andrew D’Agostini, defensemen Jordan Henry, Tim Billingsley, Reggie Traccitto and Mike Vernace and forwards Brandon Marino, Scott Jacklin, Luc-Olivier Blain, Mitch Zion, Patrick Megannetty, and Luke Pither.

Seven more players have signed contracts over the course of the offseason and are ready to battle for their spot on the 2016-17 Beast roster. That select list includes forwards David Pacan (South Carolina Stingrays – ECHL), David Vallorani (Starbulls Rosenheim – DEL2), Brandon MacLean (Ravensburg Towerstars – DEL2), Damian Cross (Idaho Steelheads – ECHL), Taylor Carnevale (EC Kassel Huskies – DEL2), Mike Folkes,(Manchester Storm – EIHL), David Broll (Syracuse Crunch – AHL) and defenseman Justin Baker (HK Nitra – Slovakia).

An additional seven PTO skaters will be battling hard for a roster spot, including some familiar faces.

Defensemen Travis Armstrong and Christian Weidauer each spent time with the club during the 2015-16 campaign and are hoping to make a lasting impression.

NCAA grad David Gandara (American International College – NCAA) made his pro debut with the Louisiana IceGators in the SPHL last season and is hoping to make the jump to the ECHL this year.

Four impressive skaters earned the call to main camp following notable performances during the club’s Free Agent Camp, held in July. That list includes Federal Hockey League standouts Chris Leveille (Port Huron Prowlers – FHL) and Easton Oliver (Brewster Bulldogs – FHL), stud goaltender Nicolas Dahan (Hagersville Hawks – NDJCHL) and hard working forward Ian Harris (Kingston Voyageurs – OJHL).

Beast fans will get the opportunity to meet the squad this Sunday, October 2 during the team’s annual Fan Fest, starting at 2:30PM.
