BRAMPTON, ONTARIO – The Brampton Beast, ECHL affiliate of the St. John’s IceCaps and Montreal Canadiens, will once again have an opportunity to bolster team chemistry ahead of the upcoming 2016-17 ECHL season as the club is proud to announce its second preseason game.
On Sunday, October 9 at 3:00 PM, the Beast will descend upon Wings Event Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan to face the K-Wings for their first preseason game ahead of the 2016-17 campaign.
As previously announced, the Beast will play their second preseason game one day later as they make the short drive to Fort Wayne, Indiana to face the Fort Wayne Komets at the Allen County War Memorial Arena at 7:30 PM.
This season marks the first time in the history of the Beast franchise that the club will face a league opponent before the start of the season. The only preseason game the Beast played last season was the historic exhibition match against Team India, held at the Powerade Centre on October 9, 2015.
Beast Head Coach and Vice President of Hockey Operations Colin Chaulk is excited to not only have the opportunity to see his club come together ahead of the start of the regular season but to test his team’s skills against a pair of familiar but tough opponents.
“Both Fort Wayne and Kalamazoo will be great tests for us,” Chaulk said. “Both of these teams made the playoffs last year and playing against them before we hit the ice to start the season can only help us to hit the ground running.”
