BRAMPTON, ONTARIO – The Brampton Beast, ECHL affiliate of the St. John’s IceCaps and Montreal Canadiens, announce today the club’s first preseason game ahead of the 2016-17 ECHL season.
In an effort to hit the ground running and get off to a quick start to the upcoming 2016-17 season, the Beast will hit the road and head to Fort Wayne, Indiana on Monday, October 10 to face the Komets at the Allen County War Memorial Arena at 7:30 PM.
This season marks the first time in the history of the Beast franchise that the club will face a league opponent before the start of the season. The only preseason game the Beast played last season was the historic exhibition match against Team India, held at the Powerade Centre on October 9, 2015.
Beast Head Coach and Vice President of Hockey Operations Colin Chaulk is excited at the opportunity to see some game action ahead of their season opener against the Wheeling Nailers on October 15.
“In the Beast’s existence coming into year four, we’ve never had an exhibition game and we felt it was time,” Chaulk said.
“It’s been hindering the starts for our team. We have decided to hit the road, get a little camaraderie with the boys and head to Fort Wayne, Indiana to play the Komets at 7:30 on Monday evening. We’re definitely excited to get our guys some touches and some game action and play for real before the big season starts.”
