The Beast Community Report - May 2016

May is the first month of the off-season for the Brampton Beast. That doesn't mean it hasn't been action packed. Here are some of the things we have done in the month of May.


Mandarin MS Walk - May 1

The Beast were on hand to say hello to those participating in this years MS walk. They were there to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis. Beast Broadcaster Chris Ballard was on hand to MC the event. Boomer even stopped in to say hello.


McHappy Day – May 4

The Brampton Beast, alongside the Brampton Fire Department, collected donations during McHappy Day at the McDonalds on Queen St. W.  All funds collected went to the Ronald McDonald House Charity. Boomer along with other Beast staff were on hand to give out ballons and the day was a huge success and the Beast are already looking forward to taking part in McHappy Day next year.


Cram-A-Van – May 7

The Beast and the Peel Regional Police were at Fortinos at 35 Worthington Avenue in Brampton for the Cram A Van Community Food Drive, with all proceeds going to Ste. Louise Outreach Centre of Peel. The Brampton Beast were happy to be on hand to support this incredible cause.


50th Anniversary of Clark Blvd Public School – May 7

The Beast were in Bramlea for the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Clark Boulevard Public School. Childern visited the Beast tent and played our Beast Plinko game in exchange for some great prizes. Beast mascot Boomer was on hand to play mini golf.  He even made the putt! We would like to congradulate Clark Boulevard Public School on hosting a great event to celebrate their 50th year.


Fuel for Kids – May 13

Fortinos on 35 Worthington Avenue played host to another great event during the month of May, called Fuel for Kids. The Beast were one of several community groups who set up shop, including race car driver Dave Connelly, who was on hand to show off his impressive Fortinos race car. Even though he wasn't allowed to drive the race car, Boomer was on hand to take some photos.


William Osler Health System Foundation Donation – May 13

On May 13, the Beast presented the William Osler Health System Foundation with a donation for $1,150! Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible!


Peel Police Day – May 14

The Peel Police Department celebrated Peel Police Day on May 14 and the Beast were on hand to help celebrate the occasion. The celebration included music as well as plenty of activities for the many children in attendance. The Beast were happy to celebrate our local police department.


Parachute National Safe Kids Week -  May 27

Parachute Canada hosted Safe Kids week at Century Gardens and the Beast were well represented and made several presentations about concussions and helmet safety to children in grades one through four. Boomer even squeezed in a workout and helped run an energetic Zumba class.


Rib N’ Roll – May 29

The Brampton Beast joined the Brampton Rotary Club to take part in the Rib N’ Roll at Gage Park in Downtown Brampton.  Boomer took pictures while great music from live bands echoed throughout the park.


Movin’ 4 Kids – May 29

Lakeshore Park was filled with energy as it played host to Movin’ For Kids. This was a fundraiser hosted by Erinoak Kids. People would walk, run or roll, in order to raise funds for Erinoak Kids. Boomer was on hand to celebrate the occasion.


Bike to Work Day – May 30

The Mayor of Brampton, Linda Jeffery and the the Peel Police Department kicked off Bike to Work Day at Garden Square on May 30 to raise awareness of Bike Month, which runs through the month of June.
