BRAMPTON, ONTARIO – The Brampton Beast, ECHL affiliate of the St. John’s IceCaps and Montreal Canadiens, announce today a pair of transactions ahead of this weekend’s two-game set against the Adirondack Thunder.
The Beast have signed University of New Brunswick assistant captain Taylor MacDougall to a player contract.
The 25-year-old The Pas, Manitoba native honed his craft as a solid two-way player in the QMJHL, suiting up for the St. John's Fog Devils, Montreal Juniors and Cape Breton Screaming Eagles from 2006-07 to 2010-11.
In his junior career, the 6’3” forward played a total of 289 games in the QMJHL, potting 45 goals and adding 59 assists and 194 penalty minutes
Following his junior career, he moved to the university ranks, where he suited up with the powerhouse University of New Brunsiwck Reds from 2011-12 to 2015-16, appearing in 118 games and recording 22 goals while adding 27 assists and 80 penalty minutes.
In a separate transaction the St. John’s IceCaps have recalled defenseman Dalton Thrower from the Brampton Beast.
The 22-year-old Squamish, British Columbia native has appeared in 29 games for the Beast thus far this season, recording one goal and three assists with 60 penalty minutes.
With the IceCaps this season, Thrower has suited up for eight games and recorded 20 penalty minutes.
The Beast are in Adirondack to play the Thunder this Saturday and Sunday. The club returns home on Wednesday, April 6 to host their division rivals, the Kalamazoo Wings, for the final time in the 2015-16 season. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:15 PM.
