BRAMPTON, ONTARIO – Brampton Beast rookie goaltender Michael Giugovaz made 25 saves in his professional debut but the potent offense of the North Division leaders, the Toledo Walleye, got the best of the Beast on Sunday afternoon as the visitors topped the Beast 5-1 at the Powerade Centre.

Beast captain Jordan Henry scored the lone goal for the Beast, who dropped their sixth straight contest at home at the Powerade Centre.

Giugovaz was tested early in the opening frame as Kyle Bonis jumped in on a breakaway, hit the post and saw the puck bounce in off a defender, opening the scoring just 3:06 into the opening period.

Later in the frame, Austin Wuthrich made his impact on the game, scoring a pair of goals just under three minutes apart, giving Toledo a 3-0 lead after the opening 20 minutes of play. Toledo also held the edge on the shot clock by a 12-7 margin.

The ruthless Toledo offense struck again early in the second period as Joel Chouinard sent a shot on goal through a crowd that eluded the goaltender for a power play goal at 5:48.

The Beast made it interesting less than two minutes later as Jordan Henry settled down a loose puck along the boards at the blue line and sent a perfect shot behind Walleye starter Jake Paterson at 7:30. The newly-reassigned Angelo Miceli and Nick McParland recorded the assists on Henry’s fourth goal of the season.

The Beast settled down and played good defensive hockey for the remainder of the second frame and into the third but the Walleye’s Dominic Zombo picked up his third point of the night, redirecting the puck behind Giugovaz at 13:16 to end the scoring.
