Brampton Beast Reinventing Sports Entertainment

02/24/2016 2:41 PM -

With laughter and cheer echoing through the Powerade Centre on Sunday, February 12th, Ruby Sahota, Liberal MP for Brampton North, returned to another Brampton Beast game—one of many she has attended with her family and friends.

“It feels good to be apart of something that is for the community while being with the community”, Ruby exclaims with her nephew beside her bursting with excitement after catching a hotdog in the stands. “We just have such a fun time when we’re here, because it’s not practical or always possible to go downtown.”

Ruby is right, the Beast bring the fun and high-impact game of professional hockey to Brampton at a fraction of the price, and very few rinks give you the chance to a catch hotdog shot out of a cannon.

As a member of parliament born and raised in Brampton, bringing people together in the community is what Ruby strives for. The time she gets to spend with her family enjoying a good hockey game keeps her coming back: “with hectic schedules, this is a great way to be with family and also be apart of the community”, she revealed with sincerity.

When looking at the stands at the Beast game, the seats are packed with families and kids having a great time sponsored by hockey. After a few minutes at a Beast game, it’s hard to argue that no one appreciates the excitement of a good hockey game more than the kids.  Ruby comments on the crowd “it’s a good way to expose sports to kids at such a young age. Sports can be such an integral part in life and building a lot of skills—not just athletic skills but there are so many social skills you develop through sports and it keeps them out of trouble.”

As a dedicated mother and member of Parliament, Sahota stresses the importance of having friendly and affordable places for family outings. She stands by the Brampton Beast as one of the best sport entertainment experiences in the GTA. Beast games provide families with a place to watch affordable professional hockey, kids with the skills that only come from playing and watching sports, and Brampton with a strong sense of community.
