The Brampton Beast, ECHL affiliate of the St. John’s IceCaps and Montreal Canadiens, announce today that former Beast Dalton Thrower has been reassigned from the IceCaps (AHL) and will be joining the Beast this weekend.
Thrower, 21, hails from Squamish, British Columbia and has suited up for two games with the IceCaps this season and recorded two penalty minutes.
Drafted in the second round, 51st overall by the Canadiens in 2012, he played his first season as a pro with the Beast in 2014-15 and suited up for 37 games. He notched three goals and three assists to go along with 107 penalty minutes.
He enjoyed a stellar five-year junior career with the Saskatoon Blades and Vancouver Giants of the Western Hockey League. He suited up in the Canadian Hockey League’s Top Prospects Game in the 2011-12 season.
During the 2012-13 campaign, his last with the Blades, he and his teammates made it all the way to the Memorial Cup, where he was held pointless in three games.
He ended his junior career with the Giants as their team captain in 2013-14 and recorded 12 goals and 27 assists in 42 games.
No stranger to taking the body, Beast Head Coach Colin Chaulk is pleased to have Thrower back in Brampton.
“Dalton spent some time here in Brampton last year and we’re happy for him that he has been able to stick in the American Hockey League this season, although he hasn’t played a lot of hockey,” Chaulk said. “We’re excited to get him some minutes and get him back where he wants to be. Dalton brings a physical game with a lot of leadership. He moves the puck well and his fitness level is where it needs to be. We’re excited to have him.”
Come see Thrower at the Powerade Centre this weekend as the Beast host the Kalamazoo Wings on Sunday, November 15 at 2:00PM. Single game tickets are now available, starting at $16.25. Trial Packs for the 2015-16 season are also available starting at $39.99 that include three game tickets.
