BRAMPTON, ON – The Brampton Beast, ECHL affiliate of the St. John’s IceCaps and Montreal Canadiens, announced today that three-time Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) 35-goal scorer Angelo Miceli has been reassigned by the IceCaps (AHL) and will be reporting to the Beast.

The 21-year-old Montreal, Quebec native ended his impressive, point-per-game junior career following the completion of the 2014-15 campaign.

Miceli played four full seasons with the Victoriaville Tigres and amassed impressive goal-scoring totals: 118 goals and 161 assists for 279 points in 255 games played.

Last year, Miceli had a dominant season and finished fifth in QMJHL scoring with 38 goals and 96 points and Beast Head Coach Colin Chaulk is excited to have a young, talented pivot to help put pucks in the net.

“We’re excited to get somebody who is a natural centre with scoring ability,” Chaulk said. “I watched him in London and in Montreal. We know he can score and we’re excited to have him”

His route to the professional ranks is an impressive one. After going undrafted in the NHL Entry Draft, he accepted an invitation to the Canadiens development camp.

He made the most of his opportunity and recorded points in all three rookie camp games during a four-team prospect tournament in London, Ontario, against some of the league’s top prospects from the Toronto Maple Leafs, Pittsburgh Penguins and Ottawa Senators.

His dedication and hard work opened the doors to an invitation to the Canadiens main training camp, where team executives decided to offer the 176-pount centre an AHL contract.

He made an impression during his time in St. John’s and notched his first pro goal in just his second game with the IceCaps in a 6-1 loss to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

Miceli will join his new teammates on the ice this week as the Beast prepare for their highly-anticipated Home Opener on Friday, October 23 against the Adirondack Thunder.

To make room for Miceli and other recent additions, the Beast have released Yannick Riendeau and Francis Meilleur.
