Beast Announce 2015-16 Training Camp Dates, New Roster Additions
BRAMPTON, ON - The Brampton Beast, ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Montreal Canadiens, announced today that the club’s 2015-16 Training Camp will be taking place at the Powerade Centre in Brampton from Monday, October 5 to Wednesday, October 14.
On-ice practice sessions will be taking place at 10 a.m. daily for the duration of Training Camp. Practices are open to the media as well as Beast Season Ticket Holders. Please note that practice times and locations are subject to change.
The club’s lone exhibition contest will be taking place during Training Camp on Friday, October 9 as the Beast host Team India in a highly-anticipated international friendly at the Powerade Centre at 7:15p.m.
A complete Training Camp roster will be finalized next week. Confirmed for training camp are the following players currently under contract for the 2015-16 season:
Goaltenders: Bryan Pitton. Defense: Francis Meilleur, Justin DaCosta, Guy Leboeuf, Mathew Maione, Dean Willmott. Forwards: Yannick Tifu, Chris Auger, Brandon Marino, Luc-Olivier Blain, Yannick Riendeau, Scott Howes, Jeff Brown, Cal Wild, Stephon Thorne, Nick Zappia.
In addition, the Beast is proud to introduce two new players who have been signed to Standard Player Contracts ahead of October’s Training Camp:
Jamie Wise (LW) – The 24-year-old Stouffville, Ontario native is entering his second season in the professional ranks, having split the 2014-15 season with the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs and the ECHL’s Indy Heat. Following the completion of his junior career, which he spent with the OHL’s Peterborough Petes and Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors, he joined the Ryerson Rams for two seasons and led the team in scoring in 2013-14 with 21 goals and 24 assists in 26 games.
Bryan McGregor (RW) – An international journeyman, the 31-year-old Niagara Falls, Ontario product is returning to North America after playing abroad for the last six seasons. McGregor made stops in Finland, Czech Republic, Austria, Kazakhstan and Denmark and helped the Piráti Chomutov to a Czech2 title in 2014-15. He’s no stranger to the ECHL and played two full seasons in the league, including a stellar 2008-09 campaign with the Idaho Steelheads, posting 38 goals and 44 assists in 66 games.
Zach McCullough (D) –Following a four-year CIS career with the University of Prince Edward Island, the 28-year-old defensive specialist spent the last two seasons in the ECHL with the Elmira Jackals (2013-14) and the Kalamazoo Wings (2014-15). The Barrie, Ontario native scored his first professional goal last season with the Wings, an overtime winner to complete a three-goal comeback over the Allen Americans on January 25, 2015.
Joining the aforementioned players under contract will be a group of talented Training Camp invitees, who will also compete for the opportunity to play for the Beast. To date, the list of Training Camp invitees includes:
Goaltender: Paul Dorsey. Defense: Ben MacAskill, Grant Gettinger, Jason Yee, Peter Hermenegildo. Forwards: Ben Rubin, Steven Guzzo, Thomas Stajan.
The Beast’s second season in the ECHL kicks off on the road for the 2015-16 campaign. The Beast will head to New Hampshire to face the Manchester Monarchs on Friday, October 16 before ending their season-opening road trip in central New York to face the Elmira Jackals on Saturday, October 17.
Single game tickets for the Beast’s home opener on Friday, October 23rd against the Adirondack Thunder are now available, starting at $16.25. Trial Packs for the 2015-16 season are also available starting at $39.99 that include three game tickets.
