TONIGHT'S GAME: Tonight's game marks the Brampton Beast's seventh road game this season, and the third of three contests between the Beast and Rapid City Rush this week. The teams will meet a total of nine times this season. The Beast currently tied with Rapid City in the ECHL's Western Conference, with four games in hand, after taking four points from Rapid City on Wednesday and Friday.                                 

LAST TIME OUT: The Beast were able to record their second road victory of the season in a tense shutout win over Rapid City last night, with Jason Pitton and Stephon Thorne both scoring for the Beast in the third period. Trevor Cann was again spectatular in saving all 41 shots he faced for his first shutout of the year. The result improves the Beast to 5-7-1 on the season and 5-2-0 in their last seven games.

AT ICE LEVEL:                                             

Top Tenders: The Beast have faced 4 of the current top-5 goalies in the ECHL based on save percentage in 8 of their 13 games – Riley Gill (2 times, 0.944 SAV%, ALN), Jeff Lerg (0.936 SAV%, TOL), Evan Mosher (4 times, 0.933 SAV%, QC) and Sam Marotta (0.931 SAV%, ELM). All four goalies are also in the top-12 goalie leaders by GAA (Gill is 1st, Lerg is 3rd) 

Road Warriors: The Beast's road penalty-kill is first in the ECHL at 95.7%, and has only conceded one goal in 23 times shorthanded    

Making Up Ground: With Friday's win the Beast sit tied with the Rush in the ECHL’s Western Conference, with four games in hand      

Cann the Man: Trevor Cann’s 330 saves so far this season places him 4th in the ECHL in that category with less GP than all three goaltenders in front of him     

Clutch Performers: Brampton has a .750 winning percentage in the extra frame with two OT wins, one SO win, and one OT loss (7 of 8 possible points)     

Old-Fashioned Shootout: Brampton is 5th in the ECHL with 32.54 shots taken/game, and last in the ECHL with 43.08 shots allowed/game 

Avoiding the Sin Bin: Brampton has taken 53 minor penalties so far this season, the fewest of any team in the ECHL 

Clean Opponents: Brampton’s opponent PIM is the lowest of any team in the league at 147, less than  half the league average of 302 opponent PIM/team     

Shutting Down the Third: The Beast have allowed the fewest shots against in the third period (157) and have also conceded the fewest goals (14) in that frame   

Star Signing: Chad Painchaud continues his torrid start to the season with Tyler Donati on the IR. Painchaud currently leads the Beast in scoring with 12 points in 13 games (3G, 9A) and 56 shots on goal                                    

TRENDS:

BEAST: 3-4-0 when scoring first, 2-3-1 when conceding first goal
RUSH: 5-2-1 when scoring first, 0-9-0 when conceding first goal

The closer the game, the better the Beast seem to play, with a 4-0-1 record in one-goal games and 1-7-0 in 2+ goal games this season            

The Beast have taken 152 shots in the first, more than any other period, but have only 6 goals (3.94% shooting percentage)
