Top 10 Moments of the 2016-17 Season - #6 – A Record-Breaking Season
The Brampton Beast were forced to dust off the record book following the 2016-17 ECHL season, as the club shattered many significant team records en route to the best season in franchise history.
On an individual level, Beast skaters set new single-season highs in almost all individual statistical categories.
David Pacan not only set a new club record for goals in a season with 41 in 67 games played, he tied for the league lead in goals with Brendan O’Donnell of the Florida Everblades. He destroyed the previous club record of 29 goals in a season set by Andrew Fournier in the 2013-14 Central Hockey League campaign.
Not to be outdone, David Vallorani cemented his place in Beast history, with an eye-opening 83-point campaign. Prior to Vallorani’s breakout season, the team record for points in a single season was 55, set by Jason Pitton during the club’s 2013-14 Central Hockey League season.
Beast captain Brandon Marino had a sensational season, one that put him on the top of several all-time statistical categories.
His excellent point-per-game 72-point season not only ranks as the third best single-season point total in team history behind Vallorani and Pacan, but it vaulted him to the top spot all-time in franchise points (35G, 85A for 120 PTS) and assists (85A).
On the blue line, Jordan Henry recorded the best goal-scoring season ever recorded by a Beast defenseman, scoring an unprecedented 17 goals. He now ranks first among all-time Beast defensemen in points with 66 in 128 career games with the Beast.
Between the pipes, Montreal Canadiens prospect Zach Fucale fit right in with his Beast teammates and set a club record with 25 victories. It may be a while until his playoff numbers are beaten as well, as he recorded another six postseason victories to accompany his stellar 2.13 goals against average and .932 save percentage.
As a team, the Beast eclipsed several franchise records during the season, including setting new marks for wins in a season (40) and points (88) as well as setting a new club record for consecutive wins with six.
To commemorate the #6 Moment of the 2016-17 season, the Beast will be auctioning off a collection of goal-scored pucks featuring our record-breakers Jordan Henry, David Pacan and David Vallorani.
The auction is now LIVE. To place your bids, please visit the Beast’s official eBay page here: http://www.ebay.ca/usr/brampton_beast. The auction will run for seven days starting on Thursday, June 29.
