Top 10 Moments of the 2016-17 Season - #9 – Kotak Law Military Appreciation Day
For the second year in a row, Nainesh Kotak, Barrister and Solicitor with Kotak Personal Injury Law, once again stepped up in a big way to support his local hockey club as well as members of the military, committing to purchase up to 1,000 tickets to the Beast’s annual Military Appreciation Day game on November 13th against the Wheeling Nailers.
Kotak distributed to active and veteran members of the military and their families, and cadets. In addition, Kotak made a sizeable $2,000 donation to Wounded Warriors Canada, a not-for-profit organization that supports Canada’s ill and injured Canadian Armed Forces members, Veterans, and their families. Kotak also pledged to donate an extra $100 for every goal the Beast score against the Nailers.
“No one has sacrificed as much as the proud men and women of our Canadian military,” said Kotak during a press conference ahead of the game. “From the Fenian Raids, the War of 1812, the South African War, the Great War, World War II, the Korean War, peacekeeping, the protracted Cold War, the War in Somalia, the War in Afghanistan and now of course the War on Terror.”
On the ice, the Beast looked the part and wore eye-catching military-themed jerseys as a tribute to the generations of courageous Canadians who served and continue to serve their country with distinction.
Chris Auger and Connor Crisp lit the lamp for the Beast but the Nailers struck with three consecutive goals in the third period to pull away with a 5-2 victory, but the result on the ice was secondary compared to the effort from Kotak to support the military on such an important day.
To commemorate the #9 Moment of the 2016-17 season, the Beast will be auctioning off both of the Beast goal-scored pucks from this important game, which includes Chris Auger’s third goal of the season as well as Connor Crisp’s second ever ECHL goal.
The auction is now LIVE. To place your bids, please visit the Beast’s official eBay page here: http://www.ebay.ca/usr/brampton_beast. The auction will run for seven days starting on Tuesday, June 20.
