TODAY'S GAME: The Brampton Beast, the ECHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens, are in a must-win scenario as they take on the Manchester Monarchs in a pivotal Game Five at SNHU Arena.
NEED MORE GOALS: Prior to Luc Blain's tally in the third period of Game Four, the Beast hadn't scored a goal since the first period in Game Two. Blain's first ECHL playoff goal ended a goal drought that lasted 154:08.
SERIES LEADERS: Luc Blain leads the way for the Beast against the Monarchs thus far in the North Division Finals with three points (1G, 2A). Four players are right behind with two points, including Connor Crisp (2G), Luke Pither (2A), Reggie Traccitto (2A) and David Vallorani (2A).
FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING: Following last night's loss, the Beast are now facing elimination for the first time in their Kelly Cup Playoff history.
WATCH OUT FOR THE MANCHESTER POWER PLAY: A disciplined game will be required from the Beast in Game Five as the Monarchs power play at home has been red hot. Thus far this postseason, the Monarchs have scored six PPG's at home in 19 opportunities, good for a 31.% success rate.
FIND A WAY TO BEAT BRITTAIN: Monarchs goaltender Sam Brittain has stymied the Beast offense thus far this series. In four games against the Beast during the Kelly Cup Playoffs, Brittain has posted a 4-0-1 record with a 1.25 goals against average and a .955 save percentage.
NEED A BETTER START: While the Beast are known for late-game comebacks, they will need a better start in order to stay alive in the Kelly Cup Playoffs. In ten games played thus far this postseason, the Beast have scored only three first period goals and have allowed 10.
