SWISS CHALET PREVIEW: Brampton Beast vs Manchester Monarchs

TODAY'S GAME: The Brampton Beast, the ECHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens, hope to win back-to-back home games to start the North Division Finals as they host the Manchester Monarchs in Game Two.                                                                                      

                                               

STILL ON TOP: Beast goaltender Zach Fucale has been one of the biggest stories of the Kelly Cup Playoffs with his stellar play. Through six games played, he has a 5-1 record and ranks first in the ECHL in goals against average (1.32) and save percentage (.959%).                                     

                                               

OVERTIME? NO PROBLEM: The Beast completed their third overtime game of the postseason on Thursday night, completing a two-goal comeback to down the Monarchs 3-2 in Game One. That was the third overtime game of the plsyoffs for the Beast, who are now 3-0 in overtime. Their three overtime games is the most in the Kelly Cup Playoffs thus far. Three different players have scored the OT winner for Brampton, including Jordan Henry, Brandon MacLean and Connor Crisp.              

                                               

LOTS OF SHOTS: The Monarchs outshot the Beast 47-34 in Game One of the North Division Finals. The Beast are 2-0 when they have been outshot by their opponents.           

                                               

NOT A LOT OF PENALTIES: In Game One of the North Division Finals, the Beast played a hard-fought game and did a good job staying disciplined as they did not take a single penalty. The Monarchs took only two penalties and killed off both Beast power play opportunities.                                              

                                               

LEADING THE WAY: Jordan Henry enters Game Two as the Beast's leading scorer with seven points (2G, 5A). Tied for second on the team with five points is Brandon MacLean (4G, 1A) and Luke Pither (1G, 4A). Luc-Olivier Blainis tied for fourth in ECHL  plus/minus and leads the team with a +5 rating.                                           

                                               

DON'T EXPECT MANY PPG's: Entering Game Two, the Monarchs rank second in the ECHL on the penalty kill, allowing just two goals on 28 opposition opportunities for a 92.9% efficiency rate. The Beast aren't far behind and are ranked fourth on the PK, killing 91.7% of the penalties they take (2/24).
