TODAY'S GAME: The Brampton Beast, the ECHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens, are back at the Powerade Centre for the second of back-to-back home games vs the Elmira Jackals. The Beast own a perfect 6-0-0 record against Elmira this season.
GETTING EVEN CLOSER...: The 2016-17 Beast are creeping up on several significant team milestones. Both the 2014-15 and 2015-16 Beast squads recorded a total of 23 victories. This season's team now has 22 wins to its credit and after yesterday's thrilling victory the team, will have an opportunity to tie the Beast all-time ECHL single-season wins record with a victory tonight.
ANOTHER CLUTCH PERFORMANCE: Last night, Beast forward David Pacan scored his fourth game winning goal of the season to give the Beast the victory over Elmira. Pacan also scored game winning goals Nov. 4 (5-4 OT vs Fort Wayne), Dec. 15 (5-2 win vs Adirondack) and Dec. 22 (5-4 win at Indy). Pacan leads all Beast players with four game-winning goals. His GWG against Indy in December was also a late-game thriller, as he lit the lamp with 2.5 seconds remaining to lift the Beast to victory.
SHOTS, SHOTS, SHOTS…: Beast netminder Zach Fucale has faced 30 shots or more in his last six straight games. In that same stretch the Rosemere QC native has faced 205 shots total and holds a 0.934 save percentage in that span.
KEEP AN EYE ON…: Beast forward David Pacan scored two goals yesterday including the game winner in the final seconds of the third period. Against Elmira this season Pacan has seven points (5G,2A) in six games. David Vallorani has collected eight points (6G, 2A) in six games against Elmira, tallying a goal and an assist in last night's win. Casey Thrush (5GP, 0G, 5A) and Kenton Miller (6GP, 3G, 1A) lead the Jackals against the Beast this season.
SIGNIFICANT MILESTONES APPROACHING: With a pair of goals last night, David Pacan now has 23 goals to his credit this season and will have a chance to break Andrew Fournier's single-season franchise goal scoring record, set at 29 tallies back in the 2013-14 CHL season. Pacan still has to catch Chad Painchaud (26G in 14/15), Scott Howes (26G in 13/14) and Jason Pitton (27G in in 13/14) before matching Fournier's franchise mark.
With a goal and an assist last night against the Jackals, David Vallorani is now tied for fourth place in Beast franchise points in a single season with 48 points in 42 games played and is seven points back of Jason Pitton's record of 55 points set in the 13/14 CHL season. His 48 points is tied with Andrew Fournier (48 PTS in 13/14) and he still trails Matt Caruana (51 PTS in 13/14) and Chad Painchaud (54 PTS in 14/15).
